SPARTANBURG, S.C. - USC Upstate head women's basketball coach Tammy George has announced the signing of Lillian Flantos out of Lumberton, N.C.
"We are excited to welcome Lillian to our basketball family," George said. "Lillian is an all-around athlete. She comes in with a scorer's mentality. Her versatility will allow her to play multiple positions in our system. Lillian plays with a lot of passion for the game."
Flantos played in basketball, volleyball and soccer at South View High School, where she lettered in all three. In basketball, as a captain, she averaged 11 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals.
She was also a great player on the soccer pitch. Playing soccer, she had a total of 162 points, 72 goals, and 18 assists. In volleyball, she logged 195 kills, 76 blocks, 31 digs, an ace and an assist. Flantos was selected to the first team all-conference in soccer and basketball, she won the Female Athlete of the Year at her high school, named the MVP in both basketball and soccer, all-tournament team in basketball, and all-district honors in basketball.
She also spent time playing for the travel team, Fayetteville Force soccer club, as well as playing basketball for the Hoop Dreams Athletics 17U travel team were Divisional Champions in the Carolinas Cup.
Flantos will be majoring in exercise science, and hopes to one day play basketball at the professional level overseas.
Flantos will report back with the rest of the team in August to begin preparing for the 2019-2020 women's basketball season. For more information on the women's basketball team log onto www.upstatespartans.com
