USC Upstate Women’s Basketball Announces the Signing of Maya Timberlake

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - USC Upstate head women's basketball coach Tammy George announced the signing of Maya Timberlake.

"We are excited to welcome Maya to our basketball family," George said. "Maya comes from a highly competitive High School and AAU program. She brings intensity and energy to her game and makes plays on both ends of the floor, which will be a great asset to our team."

Timberlake makes her way to USC Upstate via Norcross Georgia. Timberlake lettered in basketball for two seasons with the Spartans of Greater Atlanta Christian High School where she played a total of 59 games. As a junior Timberlake averaged, 4.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.7 steals. In her senior season of 29 games, she improved to 7 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal as her game averages. Her efforts in her senior season helped push the Spartans to a region championship win.

She earned the Spartan Spirit Award given to athletes who display leadership in athletics, she was a Gwinnett County All-Star, Region 3A 1st Team, Peak Performance team Miller US Nationals Champion, 2017 State Champions and an appearance in the Elite 8 State Tournament 2019.
