Warnock Completes Round Two of NCAA Athens Regional

Athens, Ga. – Jordan Warnock posted three birdies on the day to shoot a 74 in the second round of the NCAA Athens Regional on Tuesday from the par 71, 7253-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

Warnock finished his second round in a tie for 30th place with three other players at 147 (73-74). He is tied for the fifth-lowest individual among the tournament field behind Billy Tom Sargent of Western Kentucky, Logan Sowell of College of Charleston, Eduarto Carrete of Jacksonville and Jacob Eklund of Kansas State. Warnock is tied with Jeremy Gandon of Kansas State.

"All things considered, today's round was as good as yesterday," said head coach Todd Lawton. "Overcoming a rough start and finishing the way he did showed again how talented and committed Jordan is to playing well. Never a lack of effort and passion to compete. Love that in every way."

The junior recorded four pars and one birdie on the front nine. His first birdie of the day came on the par 4 6th hole. Warnock's tee shot went into the woods but he answered by placing his second shot, from a rocky area on the course, to within ten feet of the hole. Warnock then compiled four pars to begin the back nine. He finished strong over the final six holes, including some of the toughest on the golf course, to shoot 2-under par highlighted by back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17. Warnock chipped in for birdie on the par 3 16th hole before responding with another birdie on the par 5 17th hole.

Warnock is currently tied for third at the tournament in par 3 scoring at 1-under with a 2.88 stroke average while contributing an even-par, 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring. He also has a 4.27 stroke average in par 4 scoring to go with 21 pars and five birdies.

No. 16 Georgia holds a one stroke lead over No. 9 Duke in the team standings with a combined score of 564. Spencer Ralston and Davis Thompson of Georgia are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 4-under 138. Sargent is the top individual golfer sitting in sixth place at 2-under par 140.

The final round of the NCAA Athens Regional will tee off on Wednesday morning.
