Warnock Tied for 21st on Day One of NCAA Athens Regional

Athens, Ga. – Jordan Warnock finished with a 2-over 73 and is tied for 21st place after opening round action of the NCAA Athens Regional on Monday held at the par 71, 7153-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

Warnock is tied with eleven other players for 21st place with two rounds to play. However, a tight field has him just two strokes outside of the top-10.

"Jordan was solid today in every area," said head coach Todd Lawton. "He's not a 'could of' kind of player and after the round went right to work prepping for tomorrow. He won't leave anything out there the next two days and this is a very demanding course."

The junior began Monday's round carding a par on his opening four holes before a bogey on the par 4 5th hole. Warnock answered with a 35-foot putt from the fringe for birdie on the par 3 8th hole to finish the front nine at even-par 35. He reached the green in two on the par 5 12th hole and made a birdie to move to 1-under par. Warnock recorded a par on the par 3 16th hole and concluded his round with a 73.

Warnock is currently tied for fourth among the tournament field in par 3 scoring at 1-under with a 2.75 stroke average. He also compiled a 4.27 stroke average in par 4 scoring and even-par with a 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring. Warnock recorded 12 pars and two birdies on the day.

No. 16 Georgia leads the Regional by two strokes over No. 4 Vanderbilt with an opening round 284. Brad Bawden of Memphis sits atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under par 68. Western Kentucky's Billy Tom Sargent is the top individual golfer at even-par 71.

Warnock will tee off his second round of the NCAA Athens Regional on Tuesday.
