SCORING BREAKDOWN

Top 3rd: Stone Pellegrino began the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A ground out by Austin Morgan put Pellegrino just 90 feet away from home plate. Jeff Taylor smacked a ground rule double over the centerfield wall to score the opening run of the game.

Bottom 3rd: Jared Mihalik hit a leadoff homerun over the left field wall tying the game at 1-1.

Bottom 6th: Dax Roper walked to begin the inning and then moved over into scoring position after a Trent Alley single to left field. Logan Taplett slapped an RBI single up the middle of the infield to give the Paladins a 2-1 advantage. The inning came to a close after Taplett stole second and then decided to run back to first, getting tagged out in a 1-4-3 rundown.

Top 7th: Jake Bourke leadoff the top of the seventh inning with an infield single, Pellegrino reached on error and Drake Harris reached on a bunt single to load up the bases for the Spartans. Taylor grounded into a double play but Bourke scored the tying run in the process. Andres Kim singled laced the go-ahead RBI single through the right side of the infield.

Bottom 7th: Grant Hoppock walked Bret Huebner on four straight pitches to begin the inning. Banks Griffith then reached on a Hoppock error and David Webel reached on a bunt single back to the pitcher. Jonathan Carlyle then came on in relief for Hoppock in the seventh inning. One batter later and Roper hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to tie the game at 3.

Top 9th: Jeff Taylor got the better of his older brother in the top of the ninth inning, working a full count walk to begin the inning. Andres Kim walked and two batters later Julian Rip walked to load up the bases. Stone Stephenson hit a grounder to Bret Huebner, but Huebner bobbled the ball and allowed Taylor to score the go-ahead run.
