SPARTANBURG, S.C. - An annual golf tournament aimed at creating transformative opportunities for University of South Carolina Upstate student-athletes is returning for its 18th installment this summer.
"Year-in and year-out this is one of the athletic department's primary fundraisers that we look forward to," USC Upstate athletic director Daniel Feig said. "It's a great way to spend a day playing golf and visiting with alumni and friends as we raise money for our student-athletes."
USC Upstate's Spartan Golf Classic will be held from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Woodfin Ridge Golf Club (215 S. Woodfin Ridge Drive, Inman, S.C.).
The tourney will feature a four-person scramble format. Players may sign up individually or in teams of four. Registration costs are $150 per person and $500 per team.
Fees cover two meals (lunch and dinner), a golf goodie bag and beverages. A variety of side contests will provide participants with chances to compete for $3,000 worth of golf equipment.
The tournament schedule is registration and lunch at noon; practice at the driving range from 12:30-1:30 p.m.; tournament start at 1:30 p.m.; and conclusion of tournament and awards at 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will provide transformational opportunities for USC Upstate student – athletes in their pursuit of a top-tier education and competitive success.
