Upstate Heads to North Florida, Jacksonville this Weekend for Regular Season Finale

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team concludes its regular season this weekend when it travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the North Florida Ospreys and Jacksonville Dolphins in back-to-back ASUN matches.

Upstate starts its weekend on Friday evening at 7 p.m. against North Florida and then heads to Jacksonville on Saturday for a 5 p.m. match.

The Spartans clinched a spot in the ASUN Volleyball Championship for the second straight season last weekend after NJIT defeated Stetson in five sets. Upstate played its final two home matches of the season highlighted by a 3-0 sweep over Stetson on Senior Night. Kaleigh Kelley also reached a career milestone as the senior became the program's all-time Division I career digs leader after registering 22 against Florida Gulf Coast.

Madison Haake and Montana Swanson each recorded double-doubles last Friday in the 3-0 victory over Stetson as Swanson finished with a team-high 17 kills and Haake dished out 43 assists. Kelley added 19 digs against Stetson. In the match versus Florida Gulf Coast, Kelley had 22 digs while Haake compiled her fifth triple-double of the season on 11 kills, 31 assists and 17 digs.

The Spartans currently rank third in the ASUN this season in both digs and digs per set. Haake ranks third nationally in triple-doubles while sitting fourth in the conference in assists, tied for fourth in service aces, sixth in assists per set and service aces per set, and 10th in digs. Kelley is sixth in the league in digs and eighth in digs per set. Lily Dempsey ranks eighth among conference players in kills and kills per set.

Upstate is facing North Florida for the 44th time in program history this weekend and Jacksonville the 19th time. The Ospreys enter the weekend with an 11-18 overall record and are 3-9 in league play while Jacksonville is 16-9 on the season and 10-2 against conference opponents.
