Women’s Soccer Preview:  South Carolina State

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday evening hosting the South Carolina State Bulldogs in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium.

USC Upstate is coming off a 3-0 loss on Saturday afternoon at home to Longwood. Isabella Burns led the Spartans offensively with three shots and two going on goal. Madison McNally and Logan Pace combined for three saves with Pace grabbing two and McNally one.

Abbie Ellis leads the Big South this season with a team-high 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. She is first in the conference in both points and goals. Montanna Hill is tied with Ellis for the team-lead in assists. In goal, McNally has 14 saves and a 1.77 GAA.

South Carolina State is currently 0-8-1 on the season and is coming off a 1-1 tie at Delaware State on Oct. 4. Justine Zepeda, Jamey Thomas, Katelyn Lauziere and Brandy Vaca all lead the team with two points. Zepeda, Thomas and Lauziere each have one goal while Vaca has dished out two assists. In goal, Taylor Brittingham has registered 21 saves. The Bulldogs are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Sandra Burris.

The Spartans step back into Big South play on Saturday evening traveling to Radford for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Highlanders.
