Spartans Continue Homestand Monday with Troy, Limestone

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team plays the final two matches of its three-match homestand on Monday when it hosts the Troy Trojans and Limestone Saints in a doubleheader from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

USC Upstate faces Troy at 12 p.m. before hosting Limestone in the nightcap at 6 p.m.

The Spartans returned home on March 2 for a non-conference match with UNC Asheville and recorded a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs. USC Upstate picked up the doubles point after winning at No. 1 and No. 3 from Fernando Bernardes, Ignacio Garrido, Luka Eble and Felix Ewers. The Spartans then captured four singles matches for the 5-2 victory. Bernardes, Garrido, Eble and Francisco Neto all won their respective singles matches.

USC Upstate enters the doubleheader with a 3-9 overall record this season. Bernardes and Neto both lead the Spartans in singles play with six wins each, while the doubles combinations of Bernardes/Garrido and Eble/Ewers have won four matches.

Troy currently sits at 5-8 this year after recording victories over Florida A&M, Point, Texas Rio Grande Valley, DePaul and UT Arlington. Limestone is 4-3 on the season and has picked up wins against Mars Hill, Johnson C. Smith, King and Anderson.

USC Upstate makes the short trip to Greenville on Wednesday, March 14 for a 3 p.m. match against Furman.
