Reid Bedell Wins Upstate Amateur Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate rising-junior men's golfer Reid Bedell won the 2018 Upstate Amateur Championship this past weekend with a two-round score of 135 at the Green Valley Country Club in Greenville.

Bedell was one of six USC Upstate men's golfers competing in the tournament along with Hunter Fry, Sam Merrell, Jordan Warnock, Parker Lewis and Sean Stanistreet. Bedell posted rounds of 69 and 66 for a 135 total score and won the tournament by five strokes.

Fry was the only Spartan competing in the First Flight and carded a 148 following rounds of 73 and 75.

USC Upstate had three players take part in the Second Flight in Merrell, Warnock and Stanistreet. Merrell was the top performer for the Spartans with a 146 (75-71), finishing in third place. He was followed by Warnock at 149 (76-73) and Stanistreet with a 152 (75-77).

Lewis was in the Third Flight and compiled rounds of 80 and 72 for a 152.
