Spartans Travel to Wofford on Wednesday

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball team will make the short drive to Wofford on Wednesday as the Spartans face their crosstown rivals at 5 p.m. from Russell C. King Field. 

USC Upstate is 8-7-1 after winning two of three games against Penn last weekend. The Spartans claimed a 5-3 victory on Friday night and then scored six runs in the eighth inning in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday for a 7-2 win. 

Wofford is 10-6 after a 9-4 win over Marist on Monday afternoon and enters Wednesday's game on a four-game winning streak. The Terriers swept a doubleheader against the Red Foxes on Saturday winning by scores of 18-4 and 7-5.

Wednesday's game is the 39th all-time meeting between the schools with USC Upstate holding a 23-15 edge in the series. In 2017, USC Upstate claimed the three game season series thanks to Charlie Carpenter's walk-off grand slam in a 6-5 win at Harley Park on May 10. Both teams won on their home fields in the first two meetings of the season.
