Winthrop Invitational Postponed, Spartan Cross Country to Compete at Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Due to expected weather from Hurricane Florence this weekend, the Winthrop Invitational scheduled for Saturday morning has been postponed. The USC Upstate cross country teams will now head to Newton, N.C. on Thursday evening to compete in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

The Spartans return to the course for the first time since their season opener on August 31 hosting the Eye Opener Invitational. The USC Upstate men finished in second place while the women collected a fourth place performance.

Dorian Jones was the top performer for the men's team turning in an 8K time of 26:43.7 for a seventh-place finish. On the women's side, Krysta Pierstorff led the team with a 24th place showing after running a 5K time of 20:29.6.

The Spartans host the Upstate Invitational at Milliken Research Center on Saturday, Sept. 29 beginning at 9 a.m.
